Getting started with your fundraising

  • 1. Set up your fundraising page

Once you know what you’re going to be doing, it’s important to start planning early and set up your online fundraising page. We recommend using JustGiving or GoFundMe, but you can choose whichever platform works best for you – just make sure to select TASC, The Ambulance Staff Charity as your chosen charity!

Don’t forget to personalise your page by adding a photo and the reason you have chosen to support TASC!

  • 2. Spread the word

Once you’ve picked your fundraising idea, and set up your fundraising page, now’s the time to start telling people what you’re planning and ask for donations. Your family, friends and colleagues will be happy to support you with your charity fundraising, but you need to let them know and remind them a few times. Here’s six things you can do to promote your challenge and encourage people to support you:

    1. Share your story. People are much more likely to donate if they know a bit more about you and why you decided to fundraise. What inspired you to support TASC? Were you supported by ambulance staff or TASC? Why did you pick your specific challenge? Why is TASC important to you?

    2. Photos and videos are very powerful, not just during your challenge, but any preparation or training you do beforehand too. Sharing them reminds people of your challenge and shows you’re dedicated to completing it.

    3. Social media is a great way to spread the word about your challenge. In your posts you could also tag @TASCharity, your employer, local press, and key influencers to help spread awareness of your challenge in your local area. To get the most out of your social posts, make sure to include hashtags and a photo or video.

    4. If you’ve chosen quite a big challenge, or one that’s quite a way-off, creating a Facebook/Instagram page just for your challenge is a fantastic way for your friends, family and followers to stay up-to-date with what you’re up to in your preparation/training.

    5. If you send a lot of emails, you could include a link to your fundraising page on your email signature – make sure to check with your employer before you do this with your work emails.

    6. Get in touch with your local press to tell them about your challenge and ask if they would be willing to cover your challenge in their coverage. Interest-based outlets may also be willing to cover your challenge. For example, if your challenge involves cycling, could you contact any cycling magazines to share your story?

Don’t forget to tell TASC about your challenge!

Our fundraisers are very important to us and we love to hear what they are doing to support us. Fill out the form below to tell us about your fundraising challenge for TASC.

How to pay in your fundraising money

Firstly, congratulations on completing your challenge and thank you so much for supporting TASC!

Once you’ve completed your fundraising challenge, the amount you raised will automatically be sent to TASC if you set up an online fundraising page. If you collected funds another way, such as a collection box, there are several ways you can send your money in.
